After the successful entries of four models in the Nexa segment, Suzuki has now launched the new guest into the NEXA family, the new XL 6. The name might sound different apart from other variants. Suzuki calls it as “exclusively for 6”, meaning the car designed to accommodate six persons.
XL6 is available in two options, namely Alpha and Zeta with manual and automatic options available for the two trims. The overall price difference between Zeta and Alpha is merely Rs 56,000. The top model features few unique features like auto folding ORVMs, Rain sensing wipers etc.
The first look appearance of the car shows all the basic looks of an MPV. Apart from that, the front windshield and side profile resembles the brother Ertiga. There’s nothing to wonder as the panels and side characters are taken from the brother Ertiga.
The front facial attention is grabbed by the massive hexagon grille which has got a parallel strip of chromium lines running, which extends and get into the headlamp cluster forming the DRLs. The headlamp unit includes qual LED lights, which is a very good touch and very first in Suzuki vehicles. Beneath the LED headlamp comes the indicators. The bumper has got bigger claddings and skid plates which swallow the LED fog lamps as well. The curve lines on the bumper add to more muscular looks to the vehicle. The side-body cladding runs fully around the vehicle and holds the side skid plates and rear reflectors. The rear looks much similar to the Ertiga with the new boomerang tail lamp cluster, rear top-mounted brake lamps and large chrome inserts above the number plate. The rearview camera is placed on top of the car number plate and beneath the chrome insert. The tyre size is R15 with matte black painted. It would have been better if the tyre size was R16, which would add extra sporty look for the vehicle.
Getting to the interior makes us feel a bit roomier than the brother Ertiga. The all-black interior with the stone garnish finish dashboard makes a premium feel on the go. The innovative infotainment system called Smart Play Audio is embedded with Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Nexa also offers free Gana Subscription for around one year.
The 3 spoke steering wheel has to all the major steering mount controls like audio, modes, cruise control etc. The instrument cluster has got a small intelligent display that showcases major alerts as doors opened, lights switched on etc. The lower part of the centre console has got bottle holders which has blowers to keep them cool. Suzuki also provides a small storage space under the armrest. The glove box has got no cooling option but has got the blowers outside. The seats are very much supportive in both the front and rear. The third-row passengers have to struggle a bit like all other 6 and 7 seaters but have got a good position and a bottle holder besides. The roof-mounted blowers make the interior cool for the front and middle row passengers. The middle seats have got one-touch folding options also.
Coming to the engine part, XL6 has got a K15 Smart Hybrid petrol engine for both manual and automatic variants. As part of changing government rules with respect to diesel cars and increased chances of customers preferring petrol over diesel has made Suzuki launch such a big car in petrol variant. The XL6 starts from a price range of Rs 9.86 Lakhs for the Zeta version and Rs 10.43 Lakhs for the Alpha version. (Ex-showroom Kochi) The major competitors of XL6 will be Mahindra Marazzo, Renault Lodgy, Ertiga, Honda BRV etc. Let’s wait and watch how XL6 will impact the market.
