Kia Motors is making its first step in the Indian market with its first model, the all-new Kia Seltos on August 22, the most awaited day for all automobile enthusiasts. Kia Seltos compact SUV will be the company’s first car in the market and it has spared no expense in giving Indian customers their choice. The Kia Seltos is a smart and stylish car in the compact SUV segment. Kia offers Seltos in five variants- E, K, K+, X and X+.
Remarkably, the Seltos is well equipped right from the base variant and will get features like Voice recognition, Bluetooth connectivity, Follow me home headlamps, Tilt and telescopic steering adjust, steering mounted audio controls, ABS + EBD and airbags as standard. The Kia Seltos has a 5-seater cabin layout with top-quality fit and finish. It has a clean-looking dashboard with minimal buttons and large infotainment display of 10.25 inch in this space. It comes with a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, 2 step degree reclining rear seats and a 60:40 split and adjustable centre headrest. In addition to this, it has ambient mood lighting, and the first-of-its-kind LED sound mood lights with 8 mono colour themes and 6 Multicolour themes.
Kia Seltos comes in two options, Tech Line and GT Line. The Tech Line features with dual-tone treatment with light beige and black upholstery, and the GT Line comes with the choice of all-black interior featuring premium black upholstery and contrast red stitching for the leatherette sections. The main attraction of Seltos is the 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system coupled with advanced 7.0-inch colour display for the instrument cluster, along with a Bose Sound System with 8-speaker setup. The system monitors the vehicle speed and adjusts the speaker output as per the change without having driver to control it.
The instrument cluster, on the other hand, offers read-outs for drive information, rear park assists warning, turn by turn navigation, tyre pressure monitor, and driving mode. It also gets embedded navigation and split-screen function, and 4 ARKAMYS sound moods for dazzling music for the lower variants that do not get the Bose system. The infotainment system comes with features like – Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Bluetooth, AUX-IN and USB function. Moreover, the Seltos also gets a segment-first smart 8.0-inch heads-up display that offers read-out for speed, navigation information, cruise control and speed limit. Kia’s UVO Connect provides a smart, secure, and futuristic connectivity system. It includes 37 features with three years free subscription for five categories specifically Navigation, Safety & Security, Vehicle Management, Remote Control and Convenience.
The navigation feature comprises of live car tracking, car location & destination sharing, live traffic information, a destination set with schedule, find my car, desired destination search, and send destination route to the car. In terms of safety and security, the system directs an auto collision notification, SOS-emergency assistance, panic notification, roadside assistance, stolen vehicle notification, stolen vehicle tracking and immobilization, and safety which makes the owner risk free from the safety and security issues.
The remote control function allows the user to control the ignition, AC, air purifier, door locks, horns & lights, and tyre pressure monitor using the mobile application. In addition, the system comes with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered Voice Recognition service which can be used to control a range of features like using voice command to make a phone call, maps and navigation, climate control and much more.
In terms of safety, the Kia Seltos has features like – VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), ESC (Electronic Speed Control), front and rear parking sensors, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), BAS (Brake Force Assist System) and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control). It comprises six airbags with ISO-Fix child seat anchor, and a 360 Degree camera with 6 viewing directions – Front-wide view, Rear-wide view, Front-Top view, Rear-Top view, Front-Side view and Rear-Side view. Kia Seltos exterior design is admirable with it’s brand’s signature Tiger Nose grille with chrome surrounds, flanked by inverted L-shaped LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights.
The muscle is supplemented by the bumpers and the flared wheel arches. Seltos provides a signature look with a set of ice cube LED DRLs with chrome bezels and a wide central air dam, and silver skid plate. The top-end model is featured with a set of new diamond cut 17-inch alloy wheels, with the shark-fin antenna and silver roof rails.
The rear is designed with a pair of sharp-looking LED tail lamps and a beefy rear bumper with brushed silver styling element and a large diffuser. Interior of Seltos is worth with good enough room at the front and rear. The rear is offered with a two-stage reclining function which adds the comfort of rear-seat passengers. A massive head-up display is attached which provides all the information, right from navigation to rpm levels.
